It’s all about the money and not the quality of care.

I’ve witnessed that Clients are being billed for hours that Caregiving services were not being provided. One of this Agencies specialties is signing Veterans under the VHC program and over billing knowing that VHC will pay the 26 to 34 dollars per hour without any questions asked.

They also send in unskilled and under qualified Caregivers.

They do not reimburse for gas mileage, at least not me, and when one of my Clients reported that his Debit card was compromised by a specific Caregiver, no investigation was made. Please do not use this Agency.

The reason why this company has so many five star reviews is because they give their caregivers a financial incentive to request these five star reviews from their clients and in an ironic twist I was fired for mentioning that we got a financial incentive for the five star reviews. Totally unfair employee policies this company does not deserve the accolades that it gets online.

I’m currently owed for 156 miles in mileage.

Original review Nov 17, 2019

I worked as a Caregiver for VA for over five years. I was expected to use my car for Client errands and appointments without any reimbursement for mileage.

I’ve witnessed Clients under the Veterans Home Care being overcharged for Caregiver services that were not justified. In other words, billing the VHC for ten or so hours at the rate of 24 to 26 per hour over the actual hours that a caregiver was indeed not there.

I will be contacting Veterans Home Care and make a formal complaint.

Also, this Agency never gives raises. It didn’t matter to them if a caregiver was the best, or least experienced or educated.

This Agency just needed a warm body at the Clients home.

Recently a Client had her credit card compromised where several hundred dollars was stolen. I witnessed the phone call from client to office staff member and nothing was done about it.

I regret having to leave this Agency and my many kind and terrific Clients but this Agency has some serious issues.

Yes this agency excels at recruiting Even offers financial incentives for caregivers to recruit for them and then they fire without warning or cause as far as I can see. Totally unfair employee practices. I think the five stars are a big huge smoke screen and they’re raking it in at the elders expense and there’s a reason why they have to employee so many caregivers because they go through them so quickly.

My parents wanted some help with basic house cleaning and cooking. We specified what we would want done and the visiting angels represenitive assured us she would send someone capible and qualified.

The 1st lady wasnt even close to what we asked for (she didnt do house work!), the 2nd and 3rd ladies did little to no cooking, and wanted to sit arround and talk rather than clean.

When we again talked to the represenitive she was very sorry that they weren't what we wanted, and NO refunds even for unused deposit!! If you want someone to sit and talk then they might be ok, but dont expect much else.

I had called Visiting Angels 800 number . Talked to two different people and 3 people left me messages that they would be in office at 8am next morning calling me back from my local area, with their names and local number.

Next morning came and went. Gave numerous calls to local office. We are so sorry somebody will call you right back. Two days later nothing!

Never again!

Okay so i applied on july 19th and was sent out the very next day to a job site . I was told that they would keep me working and only worked me for 4 hours 30 minutes away from home .I was told not to tell the family i was new upon my arrival to care for a husband and wife on my own there was alot of directions left for me not a big deal i enjoy working with older people .

I called the supervisor do to things that needed to be done that i was not told about or that i needed to give meds which is not hard but we are not certified to do so .And i called the supervisor and she told me don't worry about the list that was given bye the family and just leave at the end of my shift .

I took the best care of the two that i could. I called the supervisor and ask for another assignment and was told they did not have nothing so i waited all week nothing so today is Friday july 26,2019 and i get a pay check for .33 cents i called and ask why and was told oh its for a background check i said u never even figure printed me she said sorry i dont know what to tell u .

As a caregiver for this company, I was excited to be able to call myself an Angel. I love and respect my clients and go above and beyond for each and every one of them.

The Amarillo, Texas office will promise this and that to a caregiver so they will be happy to get employment with them. But in all reality, all we are to this office is a hot body to fill a spot. They could care less about our needs, and even less about our clients. I was promised full time hours when i took the job, with time off for my life, I had two clients go to the hospital, and when i continued to ask them about my clients, they never told me anything.

I had to contact the family myself to find out what happened to them and where they were at. I went to visit both of them. One of my X clients i still go see without being paid, he turned 96 in March, i went and got him a card, a plant and a stuffed animal for his dog, when I told the office it was his birthday, they said Oh Tell him we say Happy Birthday...REALLY NOT!!! they made me live on 24 hrs a week for a month after my clients got sick, and was promised bonuses that they do not give, when i told them i was going to another company, they begged me for a 2 week notice, so I gave it to them, and then they took 2 days of that AWAY from me.

but its all good. These people are not Angels, the office manager is rude and disrespectful to employees, they lie, and take our hours away from us, they take our gas money, they charge our clients double of what a caregiver gets paid. and we are the ones doing all the work and putting our hearts and souls into these people we fall in love with.

I will say do not get employment with the Amarillo, Texas branch...unless u want to be disrespected, and lied to and have your hours taken away from you... good luck angels

Low pay,no benefits

I resign today from a visiting angels they have low pay I have never received and increase after getting an excellent review on my paper they pay no extra mileage when you can't get to the house because the GPS is not on the Google map, drove 1.5 hr, looking for road, house, in the country they have no addresses , i requested they reimburses me my time, gas, driving, i was just exhausted. Shocked i got them on my cell phone, they were rude, and all they cared about was i to get there!

The shift was 9:30a to 3:30p i finally got there at 11am thanks to a person i stopped 2 miles away. They refused to pay me my time.from 9:30 to 11 tryibg to get there and burning my gas! This has happened more than once.

I got tired of using my car and gas wasted, due to lack of organized company sending me on wild goose rides at me expense at 13.50. Stay away for it will cost you!

You should have looked for the house on GPS the night before and had your route planned out. If you did that you would have seen that the house was not on the map, and could have called 1st thing in the morning for better directions.

Or as soon as you realized it wasn't there, why didn't you call them immediately? Sounds to me you are to blame and I would have been pissed too. Especially, if it happened more than one time, how come you didn't learn from the 1st or 2nd time to come up with a better plan? Sorry, not saying they don't sound like a horrible company, but you don't sound like the most reliable or organized employee yourself.

What do you think people did before Google Maps? We planned our trips ahead!

Visiting Angels - Yea okay

If you care for your loved ones, DO NOT use this company. Not only do they force employees to administer meds (by law this is not allowed) but, they also treat employees like a number with low pay starting at $8 an hour.

If you are sick or the roads are icy you will still lose your job because they will tell you it’s abandonment and abuse if you don't make it to your client. You are better off going into the private sector. I am sure you will pay a lot less and still get better care for your loved ones. You are correct about Visiting Angels.

Here locally, the "franchise", and yes they are all franchises with no real corporate oversight, are horrible for the employees.

THEY ARE ABOUT BILLABLE HOURS! They have no requirement for caregivers to have at a minimum a CPR certification, nor do they provide any BBP (Blood-borne Pathogen) training, or provide any uniforms, scrubs, or PPE, gloves, or cleaning agents for the caregivers to utilize while handling fecal matter, blood, urine etc. But the franchise expects the worker to do all of this, and more.

It really is a racket for the folks at the top making serious money, but if you are a worker forget about any quality of work/life balance, or any benefits, raises, or long-term career success. Nothing against the caregivers, as most are good people just trying to earn a living and make a difference, however no love for the fat cats at the top of this food chain getting rich off slave labor.

The woman pictured is Debbie the "office Manager" she is the worst out of all of them the way she treats the caregivers.

Making threats over hours location and coming in on your day off. Also, she encourages caregivers to not say anything when they see that other caregivers are taking the poor patients pills.

They probably do depending on the state requirements. The comment I want to share is I moved into supportive housing and have met two home health aide caregivers who are housemates.

They both take mood controlling meds. One is also totally addicted to watching tv 24/7. The other is sort of temperamental and reads trashy fiction books nonstop. I guess if I had to pick one as a caregiver it might be the reader.

The other gal talks to her tv, noisy loud and strange. Problem is you cant tell how a person is based on just one or two meetings. She could put up an excellent front. I would be afraid of her using tv or other distractions to manipulate the client.

Ageism is very in among some younger underemployed workers. I recently had a self checkout cashier at Home Depot talking down to me as if I couldnt use their bar code "gun." This was a younger woman btw who I really didnt want to waste time explaining I used computers decades before she was conceived.

And yes, these back-to-work programs also place great pressure on their caregivers to complete schooling, keep climbing the ladder in certification, etc. I almost feel sorry for them were I not more concerned about at least one of them acting as a bully towards my older asian relatives.

I was robbed by the caretaker.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Hi, I'm a disabled Veteran. I turned 61 this year and I have Visiting Angels, come 3 times a week,

Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I sold my car, since I couldn't drive it any more. That was April

6, 2018. I got a check for $8300. My caretaker helped me remove my house keys from 2 sets of car keys. We took the check to their bank and cashed it for cash. We got back to my home and she left. I hid the cash in my dresser. I didn't put it in the bank, because, I didn't know how it would affect my SSI. On Sunday, I counted on my money and all was well. On Monday, she took me shopping for clothes. When we got home, she put

my bag on my dresser. She never did that before. I was distracted with something else. After she left, I checked my money and was missing $3000.

I called Visiting Angels, and filed a complaint. I didn't call the police, because I couldn't believe it.

In the evening at 7:30, I locked my doors and went to bed. I use a cpap machine and it puts me in a deep sleep. I got up at 2:00 which is what I do some times. I came into my living room, and found my front door open, and my screen door, unlachted. I had the money on my dining table and it was gone. I called the police and the officer

came out and made a police report.

She was the only one who new of my money. No neighbor comes into my home and I live alone. She also, had my other set of keys, because there was no forced entry. Nothing else, was taken. The police officer told me that if the money wasn't on the table, they would have woke me and made me tell them where the money was.

He said I could have been killed, if I didn't tell them. She was the only one who new.

That scares me. I've been hiring helpers off of Craigslist, and not finding the quality of assistance I was looking for.

I thought about Visiting Angels, but, after reading reviews like this one, I am going to keep looking. I just love the corporate line spewed by 'UrbanZebu'. What blather! 'We take our customers concerns very seriously....', Right!

I bet you weren't concerned enough to get that poor guy his money back, were you? I am a disabled veteran, as well, and, thanks to this review and others like it, no Visiting Angel will ever set foot in my house.

Guest

that is sad and unbelievable. . I feel so bad for you, what a scummy girlsrry she'll pay in some way I'm sure

Albie Ykr

We take our clients' concerns very seriously, especially regarding their safety and trust in their caregivers. All caregivers are thoroughly background checked, interviewed and trained to provide the best care to our clients.

A thorough internal investigation was conducted on this matter, and we have reached out to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department with the findings. It was found the client found most of the money he was missing, and the client has since been happy with his new caregiver.

It is inappropriate for home care staff to steal from clients. She should be in jail.she should also be banned from working with people.permanently.I'm a home health RN.I have NEVER stolen anything from anyone. They should have at least done a background check on her.she's making it hard for nurses like me and my friends who are going independent. In other words,we advertise in papers. We're legit, and we don't steal.we help others. But for some reason,a lot of people won't call us,and go through an agency. They're getting ripped off price wise, and obviously would be better off finding their own caregivers. We all have our police checks ready to show clients.I'm sorry to hear this happen to a veteran. You didn't deserve this.It makes me angry.Put her in jail.Make her pay you all of the money back, with interest.Shame on her!!!

Terrible

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

This company is a joke. A dear older friend of mine has Visiting “Angels” coming to his house right now, in Tucson, AZ, and I’m appalled by the level of inattention I’ve witnessed when I’m there myself.

Example: I walked in two days ago to find hundreds of ants (this is no exaggeration) crawling all over his living room floor. Not only had the angel not helped him in finding a solution to the bug problem, she wasn’t even making sure he was safe from getting bitten while he was sitting on his sofa.

In fact, when I arrived, she was seated in the adjacent room, nose buried in her IPhone. The floors were dirty, he wasn’t being “kept company”, and he certainly wasn’t being protected from falls while using his walker, as promised by the Visiting Angels FAQ page.

Beware!!!!

Thank you for your post. I find the described situation consistent with more caregivers than not.

Agencies of any kind do not prevent these bad behaviors, it is these caregivers that choose to be so lazy and terrible at their jobs. I have now made it policy that there is no cell phone allowed in my home and they are not allowed to talk at all or get dinged one hour pay. Emergencies is a stupid excuse and they have to take their chances in my home or not get hired. Finally, install a wireless security camera system in the home.

It will bring alot of awareness to these caregivers and only the good ones are willing to come that residence because they do not worry about being "caught".

Caregiver industry is one of the lowest barriers of entry with virtually no education required, yes is one of the most important industries for seniors. Makes no freakin sense...

Machele Imf

If this "dear older friend" of yours is so very dear perhaps you should start doing something to alleviate the sad situation you describe? Relatives contract with companies like Visiting Angels in order to not take responsibility for the care of the older person----just pay someone else to do it.

If you see a problem with this person, do something about it, not expect the "visiting angel" to do it. They won't.

They are just there to make money and could really care less about the person they are "visiting." Relatives and friends have the responsibility of taking care of their elders, not some mope pretending to care. The people who pay for someone else to take care of their elders like Visiting Angels and the same type to shove granny off into a nursing home as quick as possible because she is now a burden to them.

I needed help with my dad he has dementia so he can be a hand full. we got a care giver who was funny and nice and became a friend to me and my dad.

Two and a half months into it they took her away for us. when i called to complain he said it did not matter what my dad wanted or what i wanted or ever the care giver. i said i would like to talk to you face to face he gave me the address.(to be fair the man i called was as nice as possible fake but nice )i called the corporate office she said she would let the owner know and that is all they can do. before i made my way to visiting angles my brother called me (he takes care of bills) and said visiting angles called and said they cancel are care and said if i come the the office they would call and say my dad is in a hostile home environment.

so i writing a review instead . guess people don't matter, just fall in line and shut up. i guess there are so many suffering older people out there that they don't mind if some get shout out. do they care about my dad i don't think so...or maybe i am wrong for loving my dad to much?

his mind is going but i still have hope.

This review is for people who care about there loved ones . i did not use bad language but a stern voice when i called .

Not taking responsibility for damages by there employees

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I’m writing for my 91 yr old mother she had visiting angels 3 days a week they were suppose to help her with personal duties. They only thing they wanted to do was talk.

They would help her in and out of her bath. She worked for 3 months and changed and made her bed 3 times vacuumed only down the center of the floor 4 times. The last time March 5, 2018 my mother told her when she got there that she needed to vacuum she never did until my mom said you need to vacuum before you leave she said there isn’t time. My mom told her you have a complete hour and any time she did vacuum she never vaccuumed the whole house.

So she went in my mothers room and started vacuuming she then started yelling that she ran over my mom’s right hearing aid. The hearing aids where on a tall dresser wrapped up in a cloth that couldn’t just be knocked off the battery was out laying on the dresser and no sign of the hearing aid in the vacuum. My daughter also went and checked everything and take the vacuum apart nothing of the hearing aid and how did the battery just come out. This was a Monday she was to be back on Wednesday never cam and no one called to say no one was coming come Friday next day of service same thing so my mother called the caregiver and she said she wasn’t coming back.

I called the come in Temple Terrace on Thursday the 8th of March on what had happen and been fighting ever since for them to do something about the lost of my mother’s hearing aid she is crippled is why she was suppose to be having the help. The company is Becton Enterprise Inc aka Visiting Angels got a hold of the Miami company of The Visting Angels to tell them about there franchise and they stated they would get a hold of them and someone would get back with us and that has never happened. I understand that due to technology changing all the time you can’t just replace one hearing aid you have two replace both. My mother doesn’t have that kind of money to replace something she had already bought and not her fault it needs to be replaced.

Her name is Irene Strickland anyone that loves their family member should never put them in the hands of Visiting Angels. They never even sent a representative out to evaluate what type of help my mother needed they just sent out a caregiver and she didn’t even come the day she was suppose to they said they were trying to get someone her first day she told my mother she couldn’t come at the time my mother wanted her she had to come an hou earlier.

HORRIBLE IN BELLINHAM WA

We had so many issues with VA and they did nothing to help. Their staff stole 400 dollars from my mom and were not required by VA to pay it back.

Their staff walked out on their shifts leaving my mom alone. The VA staff had no skills and my mom was not cared for adequately. They did not familiarize thenself with my moms case therefore were causing her harm. Im disgusted with this comany.

The management just didnt care about the awful behaviors exhibited by their staff.

Do not let these people take care of anyone you love!!!!!! You will be so sorry :(
