Office Truths With Workers

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We signed on with this company until Aug.of this year 2024. As our time was nearing they continued to send new workers, making them think they would continue on with us(some with only1 day to go).

In order to squeeze out that last dollar for themselves, they lied to these women by not telling them the truth.. We were the ones who gave the respect to our people who worked with us,not the office, of our time ending,..

Stay away from this company, they are out for the almighty dollar only! The girls are the Angels, the office, no way...Never deal with this company

Resolved: I had a caregiver who took advantage of me

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Antoinette Torres took advantage of my kindness. She would come to my house, be on her phone and laptop, and I would barely ask for anything.

She wanted to go out, but it was more for her, so I went. Then, if she came to my house late, she would ask if I could clock her in, so I did. She had appointments that I allowed her to go to, but she was still getting paid. Eventually, she started to make more appointments on company time and more.

Today she came telling me that when she returns from vacation, she wants to come in at 8:30 AM instead of 9:00 AM. I told her I would have to think about it. She said it's only for 30 days and that there's another caretaker who can do it. I said yes and then she said to think about it.

I said, 'No, I'll get someone else.' She left, and I got upset, so I texted her to come here, get her things, and that she can go home. I said I didn't want to argue.

Then she took it upon herself to call my husband and say I was treating her poorly, but I did nothing of the sort. I wrote to her and asked, 'Why did you do that?' She then copied and pasted and sent it to my husband after I told her she had started a war, and then some.

Resolved: Deposit Return

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Updated by user Feb 09, 2024

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. I called the corporate office an spoke with the regional manger supporting OH.

Now without going forward my deposit "is in the mail" but has not arrived. I hope to close this out early next week or will start another complaint string....

Original review Feb 02, 2024
I used the Centerville Ohio office for care of my brother John Greer who passed away December 4, 2023. When I started the service a $2,500 deposit was required.

I have repeatedly contacted the local office then called the corporate office and complained but still no deposit! Although it might not be to my financial benefit if I don't receive it soon will retain counsel and do whatever it takes to get my deposit back. Frankly our family was planning to use the funds for his funeral in February. Not a good look for your company, actually sorely disappointed its gone this far.

I just want my money... period.

User's recommendation: So you spend money with an organization to take care of your beloved Brother and they don't return your deposit of $2,500 which is planned to be used for funeral expenses. Pretty sad and next step is to retain a lawyer...

If the account was in your name alone there should not be any holdup. If the account was in his name or had insurance payments go through it, it may be part of his estate.

All the expenses to include the deposit was incurred by me Kevin Greer in support of my Brother John Greer..... There is no insurance claim or estate involved.

This is why its so perplexing to me why I have not received the deposit by now......

I have my brothers funeral in a couple of weeks and really need the $s. Also, its interesting you pulled the deposit from my checking account in about a day so isn't it possible to just post the funds back onto the same account!!

I’m not with VA. You posted on a site where anyone can comment.

I forgot to add it sounds like the $2500 was needed as an assurance any balances that were not paid during VA service by the client would come from the $2500. I bet there is a waiting period to return to ensure payments are all made by insurance.

Subject: Serious Concerns Regarding Visiting Angels (Burlington / Colchester, Vermont)

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I am writing to express grave concerns about the conduct of the Visiting Angels franchise in Burlington / Colchester, Vermont. I have learned of several troubling incidents, including:

Sexual Harassment: A former employee is suing the franchise owner for sexual harassment during a company workshop.

Failure to Report Elder Abuse: The franchise knowingly hired an employee with a history of theft from a client.

They failed to file a mandatory report with Adult Protective Services, jeopardizing the client's well-being.

Unfair Pay Practices: The owner allegedly alters the pay structure without proper notice, leading to employees being underpaid and potential violations of wage and labor laws.

Misrepresentation of Caregiver Qualifications: The franchise misleads clients by claiming that all caregivers are LNA certified when this is not the case.

These actions raise serious questions about the franchise's commitment to ethical practices and client safety. I urge the following entities to investigate these matters:

Vermont Department of Labor

Relevant state agencies (e.g., Adult Protective Services)

Visiting Angels Corporate Office

Local news outlets (Channel 3, Channel 5)

I strongly discourage anyone from seeking services from the Colchester/Burlington Visiting Angels franchise until these issues are thoroughly addressed.

Cons:
  • Poor business management
  • Lack of knowledge skill and care from the younger employees
  • Poor business practices

Preferred solution: There are Serious Concerns Regarding Visiting Angels (Burlington / Colchester, Vermont). People need to hear about these issues. Many I learned of first hand knowledge.

User's recommendation: I do not recommend this franchise office / nor the owner.

Well they don't get me help and they neglect me

Well the managers at the office in Bloomington are neglecting me by not getting me care. I'm a disabled person and I'm not happy about what they do to me every week by not getting me people on anytime that they say.

Oh. We're trying to find somebody but they don't get anybody. Don't call you. Don't text you until 10 minutes until the shift is up and everything like that.

And basically no one gives satisfaction of what they know how to do. They don't have very much training doing the job and basically they try to pair you with somebody that you don't like all the time and basically like Alexa for days and days. So I'm not too happy with the company and I think they're out to get me for one or somebody has something against me in the company or any of the companies that I've ever dealt with because they all act the same and I'm a fall risk. I'm in a wheelchair and basically they don't care about me like they say in the beginning and that's what I have to say.

So if you get needing help watch who you get because basically this company is going to not give you the help that you need or they will and they just neglect me.

That's what I got to say. Thanks for listeningno

Horrible care for my mom

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We hired Visiting Angels to care for our dying mom. The Community Liaison came to our home to meet with us so that they could develop a " care plan" of the services that would be rendered and then find the "perfect" caregiver to provide those services.

One of the requirements was to help transfer my mom from her bed to a chair. This involved lifting her up. The liaison said that was not a problem. Once we signed the contract and then got the care plan, it said they could not lift her as she weighs more 25 lbs.

Then the first caregiver came, and she was 7.5 months pregnant and couldn't perform the necessary tasks. When I called the office to say it wasn't a fit, I was told that they had no idea she was expecting. The second caregiver, called 1/2 hour before her shift to say she wouldn't be coming. The third caregiver came and she said that she just wanted to watch us do everything the first time so she could see how we did the tasks and emulate that.

We agreed - so we basically paid her to sit and do nothing. When she came back the next day, she was unable to perform any of the tasks and said she was uncomfortable so she sat and watched television for her shift. Meanwhile we are stuck paying for the 4 hour shift because she showed up. It doesn't matter if they can perform the tasks.

When I talked to the office, they apologized and said that they did not realize that she was not trained to perform the tasks on the care plan. We finally just fired them because it was clear that they do not screen employees or train employees.

They just put warm bodies in the spot so that they can bill you. Find another agency if you want good care for your loved one!!

Cons:
  • Need to screen staff for proper fit
  • Need better staff
  • Need trained staff

Started out great. Worked for them for almost fives years mostly part time.

After a rough start where I was dealing with clients that really didnt want a stranger in their home I finally clicked with one client that I saw on a regular basis. In the middle of my career lets just say it got interesting then finally decided it was time to move on as I found myself being denied shifts (could travel 30 plus miles anymore when I could go ir was not available due to home responsibly the log books picked up on a regular basis and i have privacy concerns as we are required to put our full name on them.s orOk for part timer

The cost is too high. I never recieved a bill after much comlaining.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

For one week of service the cost was $1,906.71 or $4,032 a month. Many of the angels came early and left early which put a burden on the husband when the purpose of the angel service was to stay consistently with the bedridden wife, allowing the husband to get out a while and do necessary business.

Yet most of the angels were good; in that respect an important need is to allow a respected angel to quit the agency and become a caretaker for the client.

The agency contract does not allow such a venture which is unconstitutional. For example, a military veteran can be hired by a company that has contracts with the military.

User's recommendation: Clarify the question if you decide to hire one of the angels. The greatest recommendaton is to understand the high cost of the service.

Hired these people for my dad. The director said shed *** caregiver that would be consistent so my dad would feel comfortable.

The RN told he he needed that due to his dementia for about 3 weeks all was pretty good. Then for no reason they pulled the caregiver out. When I ask why and reminded them that the RNsaid my dad had improved and he needed consistency they just said well shes not available BS. I found out they put her with another client.

The RN is pissed Im pissed. I called fired their *** The director called and was worried only with the final invoice. I said maybe we could talk about why I fired you people. She hung up.

So not use and do not believe anything the director Leann says. Its all lies. My dad was getting better and now I have too start all over. She wont allow you to call her she calls from blocked number.

You have to call the office and they messsge her if and when she feels like it she might call back.

Mostly not. Terrible service do not use for your loved ones.

I’m so sorry for what you went through. Just so you know they do not take care of their caregivers and they fire them without any warning or discussion at any complaint. I had had excellent report from my clients after every shift and I was absolutely shocked to be fired without warning or reprimand.
